Lower Saucon Council Votes to Repave Steel City

Lower Saucon Township this Fall will repave all 13 streets that it maintains in Steel City. The Township Council voted [details] to put this project out for public bid and the lowest bidder was Bracalente Construction, Inc., Northampton, PA, with a bid of $826,627.50. The contract was approved by Council at it's June 26th meeting.

Bracalente Construction has informed the Township that they plan to begin this paving project in September.

Councilwoman Sandy Yerger stated,

“Council has been fiscally responsible over the past couple of years – so we can afford to fund important township infrastructure projects such as repaving Steel City, without increasing taxes on residents.”

As part of the approved project, the following roads are scheduled to be repaved: Adams Ave., Mixsell Ave., Johnston Ave., Snyder Ave., Nemeth Dr., Jefferson Ave., Schwab Ave., Fritz Ave., Mathews Ave., Roberts Ave., Gawell St., Ivywood Ave., Saucon Ave.

This is a continuation of an initiative started by Republican Council members last year - to repave whole neighborhoods - in addition to the continued paving work of the Township Public Works Department on individual streets around the township.

Lower Saucon Township Council voted to repave the Saucon Valley Terrace neighborhood (22 streets) in the fall of 2022 at a cost of $1,070,793. Those Township roads included: Alice Dr., Amherst Ct., Amherst Dr., Barclay Ct., Barner Ct., Benton Ct., Bucknell Ct., Douglas Ct., Franklin Ct., Glenwood Ct., Glenwood Rd., Highland Ct., Highland Dr., Ivy Ct., Oakwood Ct., Osborne Ct., Robin Ct., Rumson Ct., Sandbrook Dr., Sandbrook Ct., Willowbrook Ct., and Willowbrook Dr.
